John Kalaydjian

Somerset, NJ - Tappan Location

On June 10, 2019, John Kalaydjian, age 87, passed peacefully at his daughter’s home in Palisades, NY surrounded by his loving family.
He is predeceased by his parents Antoinne and Seranoush (Dakessian). He is survived by his wife Margaret (Hogan), his four daughters: Catherine Kalaydjian (Perzan) and her husband Marc, Mary (Mandelbaum) and her husband David, Diane Kalaydjian (Crane) and Nancy (Donohue) and her husband Mark and his seven grandchildren, Andrew Mandelbaum, his wife Marissa and great granddaughters Caitlin and Claire, Sarah and Jenna Mandelbaum, Ross and Jake Crane, Ryan and Kevin Donohue.

John was born and raised in the Bronx, graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School where he was an accomplished track sprinter and later attended Dominican Weekend College where he received his Bachelors degree. He joined the Navy in 1951 where he served on the U.S.S. Lloyd Thomas as a Radioman Second Class, stationed in Dharan, Saudi Arabia. He was honorably discharged with several service medals in 1954. Upon discharge from the Navy John joined United Airlines where he met his wife Margaret. John spent over 38 years at UAL where he worked as a Reservations Supervisor in New York and managed the construction of the Rockleigh, NJ reservation center.

John was an exceptional man, colleague and friend but he truly excelled as a husband, father and grandfather. His family was his greatest joy and he will be forever remembered for the many wonderful trips with the family, painting and wallpapering his daughter’s homes and taking pride in his property in Palisades, NY.

Visitation will be at the Moritz Funeral Home in Tappan on Thursday June 13th, from 4-8pm. A service will be held at Moritz Funeral Home on Friday at 11:00am followed by burial at Rockland Cemetery in Sparkill.
