John Langan

John Langan, a resident of Orangeburg, NY, passed away on March 29, 2020 at the age of 86.

He was born in Manhattan on January 26, 1934 to John and Agnes Langan.

On June 8, 1957, he married Louise Melanson at Holy Spirit Church in the Bronx.
He served two years in the Army as an M.P. and then joined the NYPD, serving for 20 years.

After that, he worked for Union Carbide, Pan Am, and the New York Stock Exchange.

He was a very active parishioner at St. Catharine’s and St. Dominic’s Council of K of C. He was PGK and FDD of the council. He was also a Eucharistic Minister and coordinator of Eucharistic Ministers. He was St. Catharine’s Man of the Year in 2007.
He was active and involved in coaching football and CYO basketball.

He was gracious and compassionate. He loved life and enjoyed people.

He is survived by his wife Louise; children John (Heidi), Edward (Marjorie), William (Marci), Ann (Dan Donohue); two granddaughters Amanda Langan and Shannon Donohue; and two great-granddaughters Kenzie and Kassandra. His son Kenneth passed away in 2001.

A memorial funeral Mass will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to St. Catharine’s Church, 532 Western Highway, Blauvelt, NY 10913 or South Orangetown Ambulance Corps, 70 Independence Ave., Tappan, NY 10983.
