Joseph Pierce McDonald died on October 6th, 2021 at his home in West Nyack.  Joseph, aka Joe, was born in Bronx, NY. He is survived by his loving wife Virginia, his daughter Joanne McDonald Bennett, his granddaughter Caitlin Bennett, and his grandsons CJ (Christopher Joseph) Bennett, Mason Newton, his sister Kathy and her husband Paul Sachse, his sister in law Donna McDonald, beloved nieces and nephews, family, friends, and colleagues. 

Joe was in the Army stationed in Virginia. He met his wife at home in the Bronx, and they were married for 51 years. He was employed by the City of New York Department of Human Resources and retired. He worked on his playwriting full time during his retirement, writing and directing works with Ernie Martin Actors Studio in NYC, Antrim Playhouse on their board, the Elmwood Players in Nyack, NY, and Shades Repertory Theater in Haverstraw, NY.  Moving to the new development in West Nyack, he continued his lifelong passion in playwriting, and performed many readings of his works by the residents and neighbors.  

Joe will be remembered most for his sense of humor, compassion, and kindness. A Funeral Mass will be on Tue., Oct. 12th, at St. Catharine's Church in Blauvelt, NY with entombment at Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah, NJ.  He will be waked at Moritz Funeral Home in Tappan on Mon., Oct. 11th from 4pm-8pm.
