Margaret Frances (Becker) Vitale, 71, of Nyack passed away peacefully on April 9, 2021. Margaret was born on December 1, 1949 in New York City. From the age of 3 she grew up at St. Dominic’s Home and in and out of foster homes. She graduated from Tappan Zee High School in 1968. Margaret attended Rockland Community College and graduated in 1987 with her Associates Degree in Nursing. She would work as a nurse for the next 27 years. She worked in several areas of nursing but spent most of her career working in Hospice and Palliative Care including 15 years at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx. She loved her work and was dedicated to giving her patients comfort and dignity at the end of their life. In 2002 Margaret moved to Arizona where she continued to work with Hospice and also worked at John C. Lincoln Hospital in Phoenix. In 2011 Margaret returned to Rockland County NY and retired from nursing in 2014.

Margaret will be remembered for her spunky personality and her huge heart. She also loved to cook and took every opportunity to cook and bake for her friends and family. Her family was the most important thing to her, she was a loving and dedicated mother to her two children. She is survived by her children John (Sarah) and Tina. She has two grandsons who she adored, Joseph and Wade. Margaret is also survived by her brother John Becker and sister Edna Kendig. Margaret was predeceased by her sister Rose Bach and brother Raymond Becker.

A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, 10:30am at the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, 120 Kings Highway, Tappan, NY. Visiting hours will be Friday, 3-7pm at the Moritz Funeral Home in Tappan, NY.
