Nicholas Leo, 23, of Closter, passed away on August 21, 2021 with his family by his side. Nicholas was diagnosed with a rare genetic disease at birth, Ataxia-Telangiectasia, which affected his whole body and ultimately his life. He was a graduate of Northern Valley Regional High School in Demarest where he was a four year varsity member of the bowling team. Nicholas enjoyed playing games on his computer and he was an advocate for people with disabilities. On February 5, 2019, Nicholas and his family were guests of Congressman Josh Gottheimer at the State of the Union Address when the legislation was restored for the Orphan Disease Tax Credit for Rare Diseases. Nicholas was loving towards his brother Matthew, who is 22 years old, also is diagnosis with Ataxia-Telangiectsia. The Leo Family would like to thank the Borough of Closter, and the community of Closter for their support. Nicholas is survived by his beloved parents, Stephen and Annette; devoted brother Matthew; and cherished service dog Jenny.  Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, August 24th, from 1-4 pm at the Moritz Funeral Home in Closter.
