October 7, 1926 – July 11, 2023
Anne Dinnegan, nèe Maher, passed away at the age of 96 on July 11, 2023, at home surrounded by family. The second oldest of fifteen children, she derived strength from her Catholic faith and in particular her devotion to the Holy Rosary. She left school at an early age to help care for her siblings and at the age of 17 trained to become a nurse in London, England, during WWII. When she was 25, she immigrated to the United States with her brother Jack where they joined their brother Gerry in New York.
While working as a nurse in the Bronx, she met her future husband, Joseph. Married in 1956, Joseph and Anne moved from New York City to Blauvelt, where they raised their 6 children. They were married for 31 years when he predeceased her in 1987. Anne was an operating room nurse at Nyack Hospital for 22 years and retired in 1991. Shortly after, Anne relocated to Cape Coral, FL, for many years before returning to Blauvelt.
Anne cherished her extended family and she is survived by her 6 children, MaryAnne Pagnani (Sal), Kathleen Davren (Neil), Joseph, Edward (Gina), Erin Madura (Chris), and Jane Gerlich (Rich). She enjoyed being a large presence in the lives of her 18 grandchildren, Matthew, Jaclyn, Liz, Kimmy, Ryan, Theresa, Danny, Colleen, Alex, Katie, Kevin, Thomas, Christian, Kelly, Megan, Timothy, Emily and Jack. She was also predeceased by her beloved grandson, Baby Neil. To add to her legacy, Anne was graced with 13 great-grandchildren, Kane, Savannah, Gabriella, Nora, Olivia, Dylan, Kacey, Sophia, Kinsley, Shane, Madison, Kevin, and Frank. Anne was a loving sibling to Nora, Theresa, Pat, Chrissy, Grace and Tony as well as her siblings that predeceased her, Julia, Gerry, Jack, Seamus, Dacky, Kathleen, Doley and Frank.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 18th, 2023, at 10:30am at St. Catharine's Church in Blauvelt. For those unable to attend, the mass will be livestreamed at www.saintcatharines.org . Visiting hours will be Monday, July 17th, 5-9pm at the Moritz Funeral Home, 98 Route 303, Tappan, NY. In memory of Anne, donations can be made to St. Catharine's Church, 523 Western Highway, Blauvelt, NY.
