Mrs. Anne Moore Buchan lived an adventurous, service-oriented life. A bright, energetic and loving woman, Anne enjoyed being around people, and she was always up for a good challenge. The youngest of three children, Anne was born on November 11, 1935, to Irish immigrant parents, Mary Anne (née Callanan) and John Joseph Moore. She grew up in Washington Heights, New York City, and was very close with her siblings John and Maureen as well as her first cousin Marie Feeney (née Lyons). After graduating from Cathedral High School in 1953, Anne entered the workforce early, like many young women of her time. She was fortunate to land a job at the FBI. Five years later, Anne married Bill Buchan, a classmate and friend of her brother Rev. John P. Moore.

Early in their marriage, Anne and Bill lived in Yonkers and eventually moved to Rockland County (Blauvelt) to raise their family. Anne was a devoted wife, mother of five, and a woman of deep faith. Her Irish heritage was very important to her; the history, customs, and values of her ancestors were those she taught to her own children. Anne worked as a homemaker and taught CCD in St. Catharine of Alexandria parish. She took great pride in creating a beautiful home for her family and loved hosting holidays with extended family. Once her children had grown, Anne chose to go back to school to become a travel agent. She worked in several agencies in both Rockland and Bergen Counties. Anne was drawn to the nature of the work – getting to know people, helping them dream big, and planning their grand vacations; she especially loved helping couples to plan their honeymoons. During this era of her life, Anne herself was also an avid traveler. She and Bill saw the world together, sailed the high seas, and came to know cultures from around the globe.

After retiring from the travel industry, Anne continued to pursue her love of service to others by working as a receptionist at Dominican College of Blauvelt for many years, a position she found to be very rewarding. Anne fully retired from the work world in 2021. She remained young at heart, and spent her retirement enjoying time with family and friends, blessed to be surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Anne passed away on Friday, June 12, 2026. She is predeceased by her loving husband Dr. William J. (Bill) Buchan, her brother Rev. John P. Moore, her sister Maureen Sozzo (née Moore) and husband Daniel, her son William (Billy) Buchan, and her grandson, Edward William (Eddie) Gavin. She is survived by her children: Maureen and husband Michael VerSchneider; Susan Buchan; Anne and husband Christopher Moran; John and wife Jana Buchan, and Kathleen and husband Robert Kelly. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren - Tara (and husband Peter) Kampmann, Julie (and husband Michael) Tompkins; Meghan (and husband Frank) Musco; Keelin, Conor and Mollie Moran; William and Daniel Buchan; James (and wife Shannon) Buchan, Ryan and Kelly Buchan, and two great-grandchildren: Mason Christopher Musco and Annie Rose Kampmann. The world will be dimmer without “Annie B,” yet we take comfort knowing she will finally be reunited with her beloved husband Bill.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at 10 am at St. Catharine of Alexandria Church in Blauvelt, NY. Interment will follow at St. Anthony's Cemetery in Nanuet, NY. Visiting hours are Tuesday, June 16, 2026 from 3-7 pm at Moritz Funeral Home, 98 Route 303 Tappan, NY.
