IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Anne C.
Ford Hubbard
January 6, 1927 – December 23, 2024
Anne Claire Ford Hubbard was born January 6, 1927 in Boston, Massachusetts. Raised in Bergenfield, NJ and made Closter her home for 74 years with her husband Walter E. Hubbard. Anne is predeceased by her husband Walter, her parents, James and Freida Hellwig Ford, and her brother Walter. Anne is survived by her sister Joyce, her children Kathryn (Walter), Walter (Beth), James (Cathleen) and Thomas (Carmel), her grandchildren: Walter, Abby, Andrew, Kristen, Gavin, Patrick, Kelly, Christine and Stefanie, her great grandchildren: Walter, Samuel, Teddy, Finn, Hudson, Sullivan, Flint and Thiago and many nieces and nephews.
Anne devoted her life to family and home. She was a skilled seamstress and made most of her and her daughter's clothing. She was an excellent cook and all her children are proficient in the kitchen. Anne took up quilting in her early 50s and excelled at it. All her children and grandchildren were the grateful recipients of her work. For many years her seasonal quilts were hung in the Closter library. She made her last quilt in her mid 80s as her eyesight waned. When her children were young she was very active at St. Mary's parish and school.
The family would like to acknowledge the Northern New Jersey Meals on Wheels program and its many volunteers who enabled mom to live at home after her husband passed. The last year of Anne's life she needed more care than her children alone could provide. We will be forever grateful to her aides, Julie, Maggie, Joy and Delrose who were so compassionate, knowledgeable and caring. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. And lastly our hospice nurses and aides for their daily visits and empathy for mom and ourselves.
Services will be held on Monday, December 30 beginning with the viewing at 9, followed by a funeral Mass at St. Mary's in Closter at 11. Burial will take place at George Washington Cemetery immediately afterwards.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Closter Library, the Closter Nature Center or the Closter Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
