Antonia Ty-Semar (Toni), born in the Philippines, daughter of James and Maria Ty, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2026, at the age of 89, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, dedication, and love that touched all who knew her.
Antonia was predeceased by her beloved husband, Martin, whose partnership and love were a cornerstone of her life. Together, they shared a life built on trust, devotion, and mutual care, and together they were Bram’s fiercest advocates.
She is survived by her beloved son, Bram, who was the center of her life. Alongside her late husband, Antonia faced the challenges of raising a child with special needs with extraordinary strength, patience, and unwavering love. She was his constant support, his safe place in the world, and every choice she made reflected her dedication to helping him thrive. Her love for Bram was profound, enduring, and evident in everything she did.
Antonia was a beloved family member and friend, known to everyone as “TT.” She will be deeply missed by her nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephew, all of whom cherished her presence, guidance, and the special connections she nurtured with each of them. She had a special way of making those around her feel cared for, and her presence brought comfort, joy, and a sense of connection to everyone she met.
A retired pediatrician, Antonia devoted her professional life to improving the health and well-being of children. She directed a lead poisoning program, conducting research on the progression of renal pathology and enzyme changes associated with lead exposure. She also led clinical studies on the effectiveness of oral penicillamine in the ambulatory management of children with high body burdens of lead. Through her work, she contributed meaningfully to medical knowledge and patient care, always guided by her commitment to helping children lead healthier lives.
Antonia will be remembered not only for her professional accomplishments, but for the compassion and humanity she brought to every aspect of her life. Her legacy lives on in her son, her family, the many patients she cared for, and the countless lives she touched.
Her love, her laughter, and her unwavering kindness will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
