Arthur W. Pekar, 101, of Tappan, NY (formerly of Binghamton, NY) died peacefully on March 29, 2024 after a brief illness. He was predeceased by his parents, Stephen and Emily Pekar, brother Stephen, sister Mary Rackley and his beloved wife of 64 years, Marion. The proud son of Slovakian immigrants, Arthur served in the US Army during World War II and participated in the D Day Operations on June 6, 1944.
Arthur will be remembered by those fortunate enough to have met him for his wit, kindness, his deep faith and the gratitude he felt for even the smallest of things.Though he lived in Tappan for only 2 of his almost 102 years I want to express my thanks to all the people who made him feel welcomed and were so very kind to him especially his 'boys' Paul and Robin, the St John's family in Piermont and the folks at the Tappan Grammar School who always took the time to speak with him on his jaunts around the building.
