Carmel P. Hubbard (nee Sheehan), 66, of Bergenfield, NJ, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2026 after a brief illness. She was born in New York City to William and Helen Sheehan. She was a graduate of Paramus Catholic High School.

Carmel was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose life was deeply rooted in the love she shared with her family.

She is survived by her husband Thomas Hubbard, with whom she recently celebrated 40 years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with family, memories, and love.

Carmel was the proud mother of Christine and Stefanie, and mother in law of Stefanie Santiago. She was the cherished grandmother of Thiago, who brought her a special joy and place of pride in her heart.

She is also survived by her siblings, Eileen, William, and Noreen, along with extended family and friends who will remember her and the impact she had on their lives.

Anyone who knew Carmel knew that she was always the first to know what was going on with everyone. It was one of the ways she showed how much she cared. She was deeply invested in the people she loved and made it her business to know how they were doing.

Carmel will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Though she is no longer here to keep up with everyone, the people who loved Carmel will carry her with them in all the little moments when they find themselves thinking, “Carmel would know.”

The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, September 8th from 5pm-8pm at Moritz Funeral Home in Closter, NJ. A funeral mass will be on Wednesday, September 9th at 11am at St John the Evangelist in Bergenfield, NJ.
