Catherine "Kathleen" Heffernan (nèe Donohue), 87, of Nanuet, New York passed away peacefully on June 4, 2024 at the Joseph Raso Hospice Residence in New City.

Kathleen was born on August 12, 1936 to Anne (Conlon) and John Donohue in Loughill, Balla, County Mayo, Ireland. She moved to the United States in 1953 and proudly became a US citizen in 1959. Before starting her family, she worked several years as a telephone operator at the New York Telephone Company in New York City. She moved to Blauvelt in 1963. Towards the end of her working career, she worked as a switchboard operator at Volvo North America in Rockleigh, New Jersey. She retired to Marco Island, Florida starting in 1997 until she returned home to New York in 2010.

Kathleen is survived by her son John Monaghan, daughters Catherine Durkin and Mary Monaghan, granddaughter Kerry Durkin, brothers David Donohue and Stephen (Eirlys) Donohue, sisters Celia Moynihan, Sr. Mary Veronica Donohue and Evelyn (Fred) Bradley, and several nieces and nephews.

Kathleen was predeceased by her parents, first husband James Monaghan, second husband John Heffernan, brothers Paddy, Jack and Tom Donohue, sisters Bridie and Mary Ellen Donohue, Margaret Connolly, and Nancy Cunneen, son-in-law Tom Durkin, as well as loved brothers- and sisters-in law and nieces and nephews.
