IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charlene P.
Palmer
September 11, 1953 – September 17, 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Charlene P. Palmer, of Palisades NY on September 17, 2025, at the age of 72. She was born on September 11, 1953, the youngest of three daughters of the late Charles and Mary Ann Halstead. Charlene was predeceased by her husband and love of her life, Richard "Neville" Palmer, her beloved sister Elizabeth "Jeannie" Popavero and many others.
She is survived by her sister Maryann Halstead, her niece Renee (Popavero) Beccia, her nephews, Bryan and Michael Popavero, Charles Liggera as well as Neville's son, Graham Palmer.
Charlene's professional experience included investment advisory services for numerous banks in the tristate area. On family vacations, she could often still be seen monitoring the business news channels for changes in the stock indices. She devoted her time and talents generously, most recently and notably through her service at the Tappan Zee Thrift Shop in Piermont, where she volunteered and also served on the Board. Her leadership and dedication left a lasting mark on both the organization and the many people it served. We know the shop, and its many volunteers held a very special place in her heart. She was so proud to be a part of it.
Her family will always remember her for her quick wit, warm spirit, unique sense of style and gift for making every conversation brighter. She was selfless in the way that she always cared more about everyone else than herself. She was someone who you could always turn to for guidance and advice. She loved cats, was an avid reader and had a wide array of interests, from fashion to politics and everything in between. It seemed as though there was really no topic that she couldn't have a conversation about. In her prime, she was really the life of every party and they didn't really start until "Aunt Char" arrived. She was also always late but she was always worth the wait! She could talk on the phone for hours. She and her sister Jeannie would often have late night conversations where it wouldn't be unreasonable to believe that the houses next door could hear their laughter! The trend continued with her niece.
She will be deeply missed by those who loved her. We believe that she is now reunited (and resuming her role as the life of the party!) with all those that she loved so deeply and have been grieving. Her humor, energy, and kindness will forever live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2025, from 4 - 7pm at Moritz Funeral Home in Tappan, NY. Family and friends are warmly invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate Charlene's life.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Charlene's memory to the Tappan Zee Thrift Shop, 454 Piermont Avenue, Piermont, NY 10968.
