Charles “Charlie” Maushardt

January 2, 1952 – September 29, 2026

Charles “Charlie” Maushardt, 74, of Blauvelt, New York, passed away on September 29, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Charlie was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, veteran, business owner, and friend. At the center of his life was his family and his beloved wife, Marianne, with whom he shared 53 years of marriage. Their life together and the family they built were a source of tremendous pride and happiness for Charlie.

He is survived by Marianne; his three sons, Chuck and his wife, Christine, Mike and his wife, Nicole, and Danny and his wife, Jenn; his ten beloved grandchildren, Megan, Charlie, Peyton, Landon, Taylor, Madi, Hayden, Ryan, Danny, and Mia; and his sister, Linda Lindgren. He was predeceased by his parents, Steven A. and Madeline Maushardt, and his brother, Steven.

Charlie proudly served his country in the United States Army in Vietnam from 1969 to 1971. His commitment to serving others did not end with his military service. Throughout his life, he demonstrated a tireless dedication to veterans and veterans’ organizations, giving his time and energy not only to supporting his fellow veterans but also to helping others throughout the local community. He was a longtime member and past President of Vietnam Veterans of America, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion, and a Life Member and former President of the Nam Knights of America.

For more than 40 years, Charlie owned and operated Modern Automotive alongside his brother-in-law and business partner, John Florio. Known to many simply as “the shop,” it became much more than a business. It was a place where friends and customers stopped by to talk, tell stories, and spend time with Charlie. Together, Charlie and John built a business through hard work, loyalty, and relationships that often lasted for decades.

Charlie also had a lifelong love of Harley Davidson motorcycles. Riding his Harley was one of his great passions and brought together his love of the open road with the friendships and camaraderie he shared with fellow riders and veterans.

Above all else, Charlie loved his family. He was incredibly proud of his sons and especially his grandchildren, and he cherished following their lives, activities, and accomplishments. His dog, Buddy, was also his constant companion and an important part of his everyday life.

Charlie faced cancer with remarkable strength and determination, fighting an aggressive disease with the toughness that characterized so much of his life.

He will be deeply missed by his wife and family, his many friends, his fellow veterans, and all those in the community whose lives he touched.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, October 4, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Moritz Funeral Home in Tappan, New York. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, October 5, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church in Tappan, New York. Burial with military honors to follow at the F.W. Loescher Veterans Cemetery, 220 Brick Church Road, New Hempstead, NY.
