Christopher Joseph Capezzuto, Jr. passed away peacefully at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center on October 6, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Chris was born in the Jersey City, NJ, on December 31, 1955, to Grayce (née Imbelloni) and Christopher Capezzuto. Chris grew up in Fort Lee, NJ, where he proudly developed a lifelong passion for the Mets and the New York Giants. In 1970, Chris met Deborah Pitcher, and the rest is history. They were married on April 22, 1978, at St. Margaret's Church in Pearl River, NY. In 1989, they moved to Palisades, NY, where they raised their family.
Throughout his life, Chris was actively involved at St. John's parish. He was also active in his community of Palisades as a volunteer fireman for the Sparkill Fire Department (John Paulding Engine Co. No. 1) as well as a District Commissioner. He was also a baseball coach, and member and past President of Board of the Palisades Sparkill Baseball League.
Chris is survived by his loving wife, Deborah, his loving children: Chris (Robyn), Greg (Diane), and his greatest legacy, his three grandchildren: Anthony, Joseph and Derek. He is also survived by his mother Grayce Capezzuto; his sister Dale Capezzuto; his brother-in-law, Ralph Pitcher, sisters-in-law Veronica Pitcher and Tracie Montenero; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Christopher. Chris was truly loved by those who were blessed to know him.
Visiting hours will be Monday, October 10th, 3-7pm at the Moritz Funeral Home in Tappan, NY. A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, October 11th, 11:30 am at St. John the Baptist Church in Piermont, NY with burial to follow at Rockland Cemetery in Sparkill, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that memorial donations be made to John Paulding Engine Co. No. 1, P.O. Box 164, Sparkill, NY 10976 or to the Jawonio Foundation Inc., 260 North Little Tor Road, New City, NY 10956 ( https://jawonio.org/donate/ ).
