Obituary

Daniel J. Emmert passed on January 17th into the hands of God and his many friends and family who have predeceased him.

Danny brought joy to all who knew him. He was a happy guy! Never one to focus on the negative, or speak poorly of people, he lived his life by a simple precept "It's all about how you treat people, Be Nice". It didn't matter who you were, Danny was welcoming, generous, and gregarious. His human nature was to trust and believe in goodness. He enjoyed being around people, sharing stories and laughter.
A carpenter by trade, Dan was a proud member of Local 279 Rockland Carpenters Union for more than 35 years. Employed by Holt Construction for most of his career Dan enjoyed hard work and the brotherhood with his co-workers. Mentoring apprentices and working at job sites from the Pearl River Hilton, JFK airport, and Madison Square Garden just to name a few, he looked forward to getting up early in the morning and taking on the challenges of each day. His dedication to the Holt family and his co-workers was exemplified by never missing a day of work even when he was receiving chemo treatments for colon cancer.

Loyalty to family and friends were the core of his values. If you needed him he showed up. If he gave his word you could count on it. He leaves a large void in the lives of his his family and friends. Surviving siblings: Joe Emmert (wife Maureen), Missy Raye, Eugene Emmert (wife April) and Eileen O'Brien (husband Dan). He was Uncle Danny to many nieces and nephews: Bob Emmert (wife Elizabeth), Kyle Emmert (wife Catharine), Michael Emmert, Jim Emmert, Abigail Raye, Connor Emmert, Jack Emmert, Cassidy Emmert, Emmett O'Brien, Siobhan O'Brien, Julia Donohoe (husband Beau), Colleen O'Brien, Alexandra Ward, Katherine Polihrom, Elizabeth Day, John Zonneveld, Jeannie Zonneveld, Christine Zonneveld, Michael Zonneveld and Erin Zonneveld. Grand Nieces & Nephews: Lila Emmert, Ronan Emmert, Tommy Emmert, Joey Emmert, Shane Emmert and Hadley Ward. His beloved dog Jeter will be missing Danny's famous home cooked meals for the rest of his days.

Danny was predeceased by his wife Ellen, his brother Bobby, and parents Joe and Theresa Emmert.

Danny's friends were too many to mention but please know that he loved you all! His family is forever grateful for your support and devotion, it was inspiring to witness.
