Obituary

David B. Kintzing, Jr. (Dave), of Pomona, New York passed away suddenly on October 16, 2024 due to a heart condition. He was born on August 5, 1958 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania and his family: mother, Florence Kintzing (Sis), father, David Kintzing, and sister Elizabeth Kintzing (Betsy) moved to Rockland County, NY in 1966. He attended Edgemont High School in Scarsdale, NY where he participated in basketball and track; he graduated in June,1977. He continued to excel in track in college at Central Connecticut State University, New Britain, CT., where he attained All American honors in the steeplechase during his junior year. He graduated in 1981.

His interest in athletic pursuits endured throughout his life. For many years, he enjoyed swimming and cycling for exercise, and in recent years, he participated in several local relay-team triathlon races as the bicycle rider of the team. This summer, his team finished in first place in one triathlon and near the top in a few others. He had the rewarding experience participating in two sprint triathlons in 2022 and 2024 with his son Richard and daughter-in-law Stephanie as a family relay team.

His professional work was in selling automobile parts for Ford dealerships and most recently in parts service for Mercedes-Benz of Greenwich, Connecticut, retiring in 2020. his knowledge about cars extended into his favorite hobby of owning and building classic cars, such as a Boss 302 Mustang, a Cobra, a GT-40, a Daytona Coupe, and a Model A Ford truck. He drove these vehicles to many car shows and cruise nights, sharing his hobby with friends and family.

David married his wife of 36 years, Georgia on September 25, 1988. David and Georgia, moved to a home in Pomona, NY in 2014 where he became an avid gardener. His gardens of flowers and plants produced an abundance of beauty and a bounty of food. While this became a labor of love for David, his most treasured time was enjoying every day life and vacations with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Georgia, his son, Richard Kintzing, daughter-in-law, Stephanie Kintzing, his grandchildren, Richie, Victoria, and Lucy; his stepdaughter Christina Makris and her children, Brynn, Aiden, Liam, and Collin; and his sister, Elizabeth Groat, and brother-in-law, Robert Groat. David Kintzing spent his last week of life as active as ever: babysitting for his grandchildren, assembling furniture for his youngest grandchild, Lucy (born on October 12, 2024), washing cars, attending a car show, and completing chores at home. He took the time to talk to his friends and family every day. His legacy is that of loving his family, friends, and country, and inspiring people with the talent and craftsmanship he put into every project or task he undertook. David's family suggest the following gestures to honor his memory: a donation to Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church (New Building Fund) at 1 Marycrest Rd., West Nyack, NY 10994, childrenshealthdefense.org , or tacticalcivics.com . May his memory be eternal.
