IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Edward William
Gavin
May 10, 2025
Edward William Gavin, lovingly known as Eddie to his family and friends, passed away on May 10, 2025. He resided in Albany, NY.
Born on August 3, 1987, in Orangetown, New York, Eddie grew up surrounded by love. As the first grandchild, he was doted on by his large, extended family. Eddie grew up in Rockland County, New York. He completed his secondary education and went on to study electrical and plumbing work. He enjoyed working in those fields. He later went on to pursue his lifelong passion for cars and trucks. He graduated from commercial driving school and went on to pursue a career as a commercial driver.
Eddie later settled in Albany, New York where he continued to pursue his career path in transportation services. Eddie often said he was most at home in church where he found true peace. Over the years, so many people said he was a great, friendly young man who did his best to help others. He enjoyed visiting cultural sites, particularly in the Capital District of Albany. He loved to swim. He found joy in being near the water and the beach. One of his favorite places to visit was Lake George. He, also, enjoyed visiting the beaches of New Jersey, Florida and California. He loved to ride his bicycle and participated in numerous biking events growing up. Another one of his passions was cooking. One of his childhood nicknames that stuck with him as he got older was Eddie Spaghetti; he truly loved to cook and eat Italian food. He enjoyed working in Italian restaurants in his younger years. Eddie, also, enjoyed following politics, sports and world events.
Eddie dedicated his career to helping others. He considered transportation and customer service not just as a profession, but as a calling. He loved people and treated his customers with great care, kindness, and warmth. He was always friendly, easily established a great rapport with people, and loved to help them. He enjoyed working in the fields of transportation, contracting, customer service and hospitality throughout his life. He worked for numerous businesses, including Fortune 500 companies, over the course of many years. Wherever Eddie went, he brought his beautiful light, quick smile, twinkling blue eyes, love of God, love of people and love of laughter.
Eddie is survived by his mother, Maureen Catherine VerSchneider (nee Buchan) and stepfather, Michael VerSchneider, his father, Edward Gavin, his sisters Tara (Pete Kampmann) and Julie (Michael Tompkins), his niece Annie Rose, his grandmother, his grandfather, and his many aunts, uncles and cousins, all of whom held a special place in his heart. He was predeceased by many family members and friends who greeted him with great joy and love as he entered into eternal life in heaven.
