IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Eileen Mary
O'Grady
July 30, 2022
Eileen Mary O'Grady, 91, of Sparkill, NY passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on July 30, 2022. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years John J. O'Grady. A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she is survived by her five children, Jeanne, Anne, Susan, John and Vincent, daughter in-law Erin, son-in law Skip; her grandchildren, Christopher (Kiki), Susan, Brittany (Chris), Allyson, Kristen (Matt), Brendan (Nicole) and Megan; and her six great-grandchildren, Sophie, Connor, Eric, Tessa, Elijah and James.
Raised in New York City by her parents Bridget and Patrick Morris, Eileen spent her youth modeling until graduating from high school when she entered the workforce as an employee of Dime Savings Bank. A weekend trip to the Catskills would change the course of her life, when she met the man she went on to spend 64 years with. They were married in 1955 at St. Ignatius Loyola Church in New York City. After moving to the suburbs in 1964 to raise their five children, Eileen went to Dominican College where she earned degrees in psychology and nursing. She went on to counsel women in crisis as well as work at the Dominican Convent of Blauvelt helping to care for the nuns of the church community. She was a wonderful storyteller with an impeccable memory, who loved sharing her family history with her children and grandchildren.
One of the great joys of Eileen's life was spending time with her grandchildren, who affectionately referred to her as "Beebs" and "Mama". Eileen and her husband John enjoyed many adventures in their retirement and traveled the world together, often taking their grandchildren along with them. She also found joy in entertaining others by joining the volunteer group The Music Makers, that would perform songs, dance routines and even dress as clowns for other seniors in care facilities.
