Fenicula (Pining) C. Benitez of Sparkill, NY passed away on September 13, 2021 at Nyack, NY. She was born on June 7, 1931 to Tito and Lorenza (Domingo) Cabreros in Santa Maria, Ilocos Sur, Philippines. After completing a course of study in midwifery, Fenicula worked as a midwife for several years in her home country. After coming to the United States in 1962, she worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant, retiring in 1996. She enjoyed cooking, growing vegetables in her garden, crocheting and playing mahjong.
Fenicula was preceded in death by her husband, Alfredo V. Benitez. She is survived by her children, Adele, Fe Elizabeth (John), Silveria (Brian) and Alfred (Brian); her grandchildren, Desiree (Robert), Elizabeth (Robert), Joseph and Zachary; and her great-grandchildren, Jolziah, Tristian, Taidyn, Camden and Nolan.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, Sept. 19, and Monday, Sept. 20, from 3-7pm at Moritz Funeral Home, 98 Route 303 South, Tappan, NY. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, Sept. 21 at 11:30am at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 895 Piermont Avenue, Piermont, NY. Burial will follow at Frederick Loescher Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 220 Brick Church Road, New Hempstead, NY. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in memory of Fenicula to St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church.
