73, of Closter, New Jersey, born and raised in Wichita, Kansas, passed away on February 9 th , 2023 due to complications resulting from cancer. Grant is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl, and his beloved son, Edward (Ted) Keast, also of Closter; his loving sister, Nancy Priest (Nelson) of Denver, Colorado; his brother-in-law Greg Endsley (Linda) of Oregon, Wisconsin; and niece Sarah Endsley, of Madison, Wisconsin. Born in Wichita, Kansas to William A. Keast and June Florence, Grant spent a wonderful childhood growing up in the Riverside neighborhood. The family enjoyed vacations in Colorado every summer. Grant graduated from Wichita North High School, Wichita State University with a music degree, and completed his post-graduate degree in trumpet performance at Yale University School of Music in New Haven, Connecticut. In 1974, Grant married the former Cheryl Endsley, also of Wichita, and they moved to New York City. He worked for many years as a freelance musician on Broadway and in many orchestras and venues in the New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut areas.
Later he became a successful recruiter in the IT industry, and he and Cheryl made their home in Closter, New Jersey, where they have lived for 38 years. In recent years, Grant donated his free time to Bugles Across America, a volunteer organization that provides live bugle performances of "Taps" at funerals for servicemen and women.
Grant and Cheryl purchased a home in North Conway, New Hampshire, where they have shared good times hiking, bicycling, and skiing with family and friends. Grant loved his life and was active until the end. He loved his family and friends, his music, being outdoors, and vacationing throughout the United States. Cremation was private. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
