Harriet E. Fraser

With heartfelt sorrow and immense gratitude, the family of Harriet E Fraser (nee Egan) announce the passing of their beloved mother & grandmother. Harriet, born in Englewood, NJ, lived a rich life filled with grace, gratitude, dignity, strength and positivity. Through her 97 years she touched many lives with her kindness, generosity, hospitality and love of life.

Harriet, a life-time resident of Bergen County, NJ, was raised in Oradell and attended the Dwight Morrow School in Englewood. After graduating from business school, Harriet enjoyed a fulfilling career as executive secretary to the Vice President of NBC at Rockefeller Center, where she was crowned Miss NBC in 1954. Harriet and her devoted husband of 42 years, John A Fraser Jr, married in March 1953. Together Harriet & John cherished raising their four children settling in the family home they built in Closter. Harriet lovingly cared for an active family while enjoying a fulfilling career in the travel industry and leading a vibrant community life. Harriet, a life-time member of the Englewood Field Club, was an avid bowler and enjoyed ice skating and playing both tennis and paddle tennis well into her 80s. More than anything, Harriet delighted in opening her home to family and friends who quickly became family. Holiday celebrations, special occasions, and spontaneous gatherings were always filled with warmth, laughter, abundant food, and love. Next to home, Harriet and John treasured their annual pilgrimages to the family's beloved Cape Cod.

Among life's many milestones, Harriet would say that her greatest achievement was her family. Her remarkable life will forever be an inspiration and a testament to the power of an indomitable spirit, guided by love and kindness.

Harriet was preceded in death by her loving husband John A. Fraser Jr; her beloved mother; Dorothy P. Mullane; her father, Charles S. Egan Jr; and her dear brother, Charles S. Egan III.

Harriet is lovingly remembered by her children, Leslie F. Weatherly, Allison K. Fraser, John A. Fraser III, and Tracey L. Fraser and her husband, Alfred H. Roberts Jr. Her beloved grandson, Andrew A. Weatherly, was the joy of her life. She is also survived by her sister, Barbara M. Cooley, and her husband, Robert Cooley, along with many cherished nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Visitation will be held at Moritz Funeral Home, 348 Closter Dock Road, Closter, New Jersey, on Sunday, August 9, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A Remembrance Service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Burial will be private.

The family warmly invites relatives and friends to celebrate Harriet's life at a Celebration of Life to be held at the family home, 111 Pine Street, Closter, NJ, on Monday, August 10, 2026, 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
