IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James J.
Corcoran
February 28, 1936 – October 17, 2025
James (John) Corcoran passed away peacefully on October 17th. After being born and raised in the Bronx, John spent over 60 years building a life and community in Rockland County.
John's greatest joy was his family, especially his beloved wife, Eileen. He was cherished for his warm sense of humor, which brought laughter and comfort to all who knew him.
A passionate basketball fan, John rooted for Duke and shared his love of the game with family and generations of young athletes. He was a founding member of the CYO basketball program at St. Catharine's Parish in Blauvelt, where he also served on the parish council and was a dedicated member of the community.
John's career was defined by service and kindness. He worked as a NYC bus driver, dispatcher, safety trainer, and safety manager. After retiring, he continued to serve his community by driving a school bus for South Orangetown Schools, quickly becoming a favorite among students and families for his caring nature and his humor.
John is predeceased by his parents, sisters Rose and Alice, and his son Jim. He is survived by his devoted wife, Eileen; daughter Caroline (Dave) Knapp; son Kevin (Liz) Corcoran; daughter-in-law Debbie Corcoran; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, October 29th at 11:00 AM at St. Catharine's Church, 523 Western Highway, Blauvelt, NY.
