Janet H. Herger, age 79, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2025, in Emerson, New Jersey. Born on April 21, 1946, in Manhattan, New York, Janet lived a full and vibrant life marked by deep family bonds, joyful pastimes, and a warm spirit that touched everyone she met.
Janet was the daughter of Stanley Ward and Elizabeth Housman. She spent her early years in New York before eventually settling in Closter, New Jersey with her husband Ernest Herger, Sr. before relocating to Rotonda West, Florida in 2006.

A lifelong learner with a determined spirit, Janet earned an Associate's degree in Criminal Justice from Grantham University in 2014—an achievement that reflected her dedication and curiosity even later in life.

Janet was predeceased by her beloved husband, Ernest Herger Sr., with whom she shared many cherished years. She is survived by her devoted sister Marion Ward; her loving children Susan (Stephen) Talmo, Ernest (Patricia) Herger, and Robert (Robin) Herger; and her treasured grandchildren Christina Talmo, Jennifer Talmo, Jordan Herger, Emily Herger, Samuel Herger, and Tyler Herger.

Known for her loving and caring nature, Janet had a remarkable ability to light up any room she entered. Whether she was boating or gathered around a table playing cards, bingo, Yahtzee and board games with friends and family, Janet brought joy and laughter to every occasion. Time spent with loved ones was especially dear to her—she found happiness in simple moments shared with those closest to her.

Her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched with her kindness and warmth. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her. A Visitation will be held on Wednesday July 30, 2025, from 04:00 PM to 08:00 PM at Moritz Funeral Home  348 Closter Dock Road, Closter NJ 07624.
