Jerry Lee Gray

87, of Demarest, New Jersey, passed away on August 29, 2026.

Jerry was born on July 11, 1939, in Yazoo City, Mississippi, to Annie Lear Gray and Alonzo Gray. Growing up during an era of segregation and Jim Crow laws, Jerry went on to build a life defined by perseverance, determination, service, education, and devotion to his family.

As a young man, Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1957 to 1960. Following his military service, he moved to New York and earned his bachelor’s degree from Pace University.

Jerry built a successful career in computer systems and technology. He began his career at IBM as a systems analyst and later joined T.J. Lipton in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, where he worked as a senior systems analyst until his retirement.

On February 27, 1965, Jerry married the love of his life, Patricia Elaine Williams. Together, they made their home in Demarest, New Jersey, where they raised their three children, Jerry Lonzo Gray, Mindy Elaine Gray, and Jason Conrad Gray, and remained throughout their lives. Jerry and Patricia shared more than 60 years of marriage before Patricia’s passing on September 10, 2025. Jerry treasured spending time with his children and grandchildren and took great pride in being a part of their lives.

Jerry had a one-of-a-kind personality and was known for his words of wisdom. He loved to teach, offer guidance, and share the lessons he had learned throughout his life. Always willing to help someone in need, Jerry will be fondly remembered for his wisdom and the many memorable discussions he shared with family and friends.

Jerry had a lifelong passion for golf that began during his childhood in Mississippi, where he first learned the game while working as a caddie. What began as a boyhood experience grew into a true love of the sport, and Jerry became an exceptional scratch golfer. Over the years, he competed in numerous local tournaments and spent countless hours enjoying the game he loved.

He was also a proud member of the Englewood Elks Lodge for more than 40 years, having served as Exalted Ruler during his many years of membership. He enjoyed playing cards and spending time with the many friends he made there.

Jerry was predeceased by his beloved wife, Patricia Elaine Williams Gray, and his sons, Jerry Lonzo Gray and Jason Conrad Gray.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Mindy Elaine Gray; his six cherished grandchildren, Carly, Julie, Jack, Charlie, Grace, and Audrey; his sisters, Alice and Judy; and his brother, Nathan.

Jerry will be remembered for his unmistakable personality, his devotion to family, the wisdom he shared, and the lasting impression he made on those who knew him. His presence will be deeply missed, but the memories and lessons he leaves behind will remain with his family for generations to come.
