IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jessie R.
Adamiak
May 19, 1926 – September 11, 2022
Jessie nee Lech Adamiak
May 19, 1926 to September 11, 2022
Jessie Adamiak was the lifelong devoted wife of the late Frank V. Adamiak. She leaves behind three -`loving children: Mark, Rosemarie, and Frank; six grandchildren (Heather, Mark A, Peter, Jessica, William, and Kristin) and 5 great grandchildren (Stella, Liam, James, Samantha, and Brooke).
Jessie was born in Scranton, PA – one of 6 children - and grew up in Duryea PA where her parents ran a local grocery store. Jessie went to grammar school across the street from the store at Holy Rosary school / parish. She subsquently attended Duryea High School and continued on to College at Marywood University in Scranton where she was known as a day-hop. She would have to catch several buses to get to school but many times, her father would pick her up from school as he would return from the produce market in Scranton.
Jessie learned Polish in school as well as from conversing with the customers of the store. Her proficiency in Polish later landed her a job as the secretary for Bishop Klonowski of Scranton. Rumor has it that Jessie had much influence over the operation of the diocese during her tenure.
Jessie loved to sing and was a member of the Holy Rosary choir. When reminiscing, her favorite memory was of walking to church on Christmas Eve to sing in the choir with snow falling as she crossed the street. Her interest in singing was a lifetime love where she would memorize the words from hundreds of songs. She knew the words – in Polish - for every Mazowsze song (a Polish song and dance troupe).
Long about 1946, while in college, she met her future soul-mate, Frank, at a dance. After a period of courtship, they agreed to marry on September 29, 1951 with Bishop Klonowski presiding
Jessie loved life and went out of the way to selflessly help others. She considered herself blessed and was fond of saying "I'm the luckiest person in the world". She left many people, literally around the world, a little bit richer for her caring. She will be missed by many.
