Joan Margaret Brassil (née Dennehy), 94, of Norwood, NJ and formerly of Tappan, NY, passed peacefully at home on October 16, 2024.
Joan was born in Nyack, NY and raised in Tappan, NY to Rufina (McCarten) and Jeremiah T. Dennehy and was a beloved older sister to the late Jerome and the late David. She was a 1951 graduate of St. Vincent's Hospital School of Nursing in New York City, NY. With her late husband, James P. Brassil Jr., Joan was the loving mother to Lisa Lawlor (Thomas), Kitty Zacharczyk (Stanley), James P. Brassil III (Megan) and Barton Brassil (Antoinette). She was the adored grandmother to Lauren, Katherine (James), Steven (Gina), David (Rachel), Rebecca, Christopher, Olivia, Emily and Siena.

Joan was also the proud great-grandmother to Julia, Jack, Sonny and Connor. She is survived as well by her three caring angels on earth Mary Stapleton, Niamh Selby and Serena Frola.

In addition to favorite role of grandmother, Joan was a faithful Roman Catholic whose many interests included gardening and reading. At the request of her family, a memorial mass and interment will be held privately next April.
