IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John Paul
Zimmerman
February 8, 1995 – February 21, 2024
John Paul Zimmerman, 29 years of age, passed away peacefully in his home on February 21, 2024.
John was born on February 8, 1995 in Teaneck, New Jersey to Paul and Sharon Zimmerman. He was born with Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI), a rare condition otherwise known as brittle bone disease. While having OI led to debilitating physical challenges, John was the true representation of unbreakable spirit.
John made friends throughout his life in many places. He loved the people he met during his time at Bogota, Leonia, and Emerson schools. John also loved spending his summers at the Special Community Connects & S.A.I.L programs at the former YJCC in Washington Township. After moving with his parents to Whiting, New Jersey in 2021, he became an active member in the local astronomy club.
John was a dedicated Boston Red Sox fan from the time he was young. He had a passion for studying astronomy, American Sign Language, and American history. He enjoyed collecting different versions of Monopoly games and was an avid lover of game shows, The Big Bang Theory, and Snapple.
John's family is comforted to know that he is reunited with his grandparents, uncles, aunts, and his hero - Regis Philbin. He is survived by his parents, his sister Jaime, her husband Adam, his two nephews August and Derek, and his sister Christina.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Osteogensis Imperfecta Foundation.
Friends and family are invited to honor John on Sunday, February 25, from 2pm-4pm or 7pm-9pm at Moritz Funeral Home in Closter, NJ. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, February 26 at 11am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Tenafly, NJ.
