IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Josephine Rose
Ceglia
August 4, 1927 – July 30, 2022
Josephine Rose Palmieri Ceglia, born August 4, 1927, wife of the late Nicholas Ceglia, mother of James - his wife Helen, Joanne - her husband Bill and John - his wife Milinda. Grandmother of Angela, Nicholas, Alanna and Jenna. Great grandmother of August and Mia. She is the oldest of three sisters, the late Susan and her youngest surviving sister Ann.
Josephine was a very talented artist and went to Textile High School to become a dress designer in the late 1940's. She worked in Milgrim's on 5th Avenue, as an assistant to a French designer who used to have her sketch designs from store
windows. She married Nicholas Ceglia in 1950 and had her first child in 1952, which is when she became a full-time mother and subsequently had two more children, Joanne and John. Her family was her greatest love.
She became a widow in 1978 and entered the work force again in 1980 where she was a quality control design manager for American Dynamics Corporation until she retired in 1995.
Josephine continued her love of art and drawing all her life. She designed clothing for herself and family members (which included her wedding dress), was a great knitter, and right up until the end, was sketching and coloring pictures for her family.
Josephine was a great philanthropist, consistently helping others and donating to many various charities. If you were lucky enough to know her, you knew her generosity and endless loving spirit. We hope to continue her legacy by following the example she set in how she lived her esteemed life.
