Obituary

It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of Laszlo Bodak of Piermont, NY on February 20, 2025.

Laszlo was born and grew up in Budapest, Hungary. Following his graduation from high school, he escaped the country after the1956 revolution, fleeing to America, settling in New York, where he studied

and received his engineering degree at City College of New York. After finishing his studies, he worked at Grumman Space Engineering, where he had the honor to work on the Lunar Module and be part of the Apollo II landing on the moon. In 1985 he founded his own engineering firm, where he worked at until his retirement at the age of 80. During his long professional engineering career, he worked on numerous projects of redesign and new construction of many buildings mostly in Manhattan but also in many other states in the US, as well as in Europe.

He is grieved by his wife Erika, daughter Lilian Rose and son Andy Erik. He is survived by his brother Levente (Cathy), his nephews Zsolt and Gabor (Jennifer) and their children.

Laszlo was also deeply loved by his extended family and friends especially for his wisdom, wit, good heart and youthful spirit. He was part of many charitable organizations and recognized and awarded for his contributions as a professional engineer as well as a member by many Hungarian organizations like the Hungarian Consulate of NY, the Hungarian House of NY, the American Hungarian Foundation of New Brunswick, NJ, just to name a few.

Laszlo will be deeply missed, leaving a great legacy and imprint on the Manhattan skyline. May his memory be eternal!

His funeral service will take place on February 28, at 12pm at Saint John's Catholic Church at 895 S. Piermont Ave. in Piermont NY, held by Father Imre Juhasz of Saint Stephen's Catholic Church in Passaic NJ, to be followed by a celebration of his life at Cornetta's restaurant in Piermont immediately after.
