Obituary

Loretta Fitzgibbons (née Kerins), age 85, of Blauvelt, NY, passed away on June 2, 2023. She was born on September 21, 1937 in Co. Roscommon, Ireland. She came to the U.S. in 1952 at the age of 14 and settled in Manhattan, where she met her husband, Thomas. They moved to Blauvelt in 1967 and were married for 46 years. Loretta became a proud member of the American Irish Political Education Committee in 1981, where she made lifelong friendships. She served as the group's national secretary. She also helped plan many of the organization's annual Irish festivals. Loretta volunteered for Meals on Wheels of Rockland for many years, which gave her great joy. Loretta was a generous person who loved to help others and always made people feel welcome in her home.

Loretta is predeceased by her husband Thomas in 2009; her parents, Mary and Bernard; her sisters, Maureen and Cecilia; and her brother, Bernie. She is survived by her sons, Thomas and Brian (Phyllis). She was the loving nana of Josh, Rowan, Chris, Brian, and Caitlin, who adored her. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, June 6th, 10am at Saint Catharine's Church in Blauvelt. Visiting hours will be Monday, June 5th, 3-7pm at Moritz Funeral Home in Tappan.
