IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Louis E.
Kayser
February 7, 1929 – December 23, 2025
A great, kind, and wonderful man Louis E. Kayser died peacefully at good Samaritan Hospital on Tuesday December 23, 2025 with his family by his side. Born on February 7, 1929 to Louis and Anna Kayser (Nèe Kiernan) in New York and raised in the Bronx. He was married to Alice Kayser (Nèe DiFabio) the one and only love of his life on April 15, 1950 and they were lovingly committed and devoted to each other for 71 years until Alice's passing on December 1, 2021. Louis was an extremely dedicated and loving husband, dad and patriarch to the Kayser "Clan" which included his sons, James (Diane), Michael (Barbara), Robert (the late Karen), Thomas (Reni), John (Evelyn), and their one and only precious daughter Alice. As well as Jacqueline Kayser, mother of his grandchildren, Ashley (Tyler), Justin (predeceased), and Jesse (Jamie). Louis was also a very loving pop pop to James (Shelley), Joseph (Brianne), the late Thomas, the late Billy, Robert, Kimberley, Edgar, Maria, Ashley, Justin (predeceased), Jesse (Jamie), John (Tara) and Kassi (Antonio). Also, his beloved, great grandchildren: Maxwell, Calvin, Matilda, Eloise, Emelia, Avery, Logan, and Lily. Beloved brother to John (deceased), Frank (deceased), Raymond (deceased), Anne-Marie, Helen (deceased), and Dorothy (deceased) as well as many nieces and nephews.
As a child of the Great Depression, Louis learned the values of family, faith, dedication, charity, and hard work. He was always a very loyal and dedicated man to his friends. As a loving and patient husband and father, he helped raise six children first in a walk up apartment in the Bronx until he moved his family to their forever home in Tappan, New York in 1966. There, Louis and Alice made a better life for their kids, always advocating and instilling a strong Christian faith for their children. Both Louis and Alice were dedicated parishioners at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church for almost 60 years and where four of their children attended school as part of their ongoing dedication and commitment to the Catholic faith and it's teaching and beliefs. In addition, Louis was an advocate of sports and education for his children. He always encouraged his children to practice and work hard but also always try to have fun. He always instilled the importance of education, putting all six of his children through college.
Louis was a great role model for all who knew him, especially his children, always practicing what he preached. While employed full-time at the Metropolitan Life in downtown Manhattan, married with two children, he headed up to the North Bronx to Fordham University to get his law degree. Louis absolutely loved the law and had a rewarding career working for the commercial real estate law department at the Metropolitan Life for 48 years, until retiring in 1994. Then after his "retirement," he took on the role of deputy town attorney for the town of Orangetown for 11 years until mom said that was it and he really did need to actually retire once and for all. Louis was always active in local Orangetown politics for many years serving as the south Orangetown Republican committee district chairman as well as serving as the chairman of the Orangetown Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) for many years where he worked diligently for the best interest of Orangetown and its citizens. Louis always loved spending time with his beloved family, especially celebrating all the holidays together. He was a big sports enthusiast and loved watching his beloved Yankees and Rangers and also watching college football on Saturdays and pro football on Sundays.
Always humble, kind, and giving to those in need due to his deep Christian beliefs and heartfelt commitment to others; his values and beliefs were expressed through sincere, deep emotional resonance and a great calmness, even in times of adversity. Louis felt family love was an unbreakable bond, believing his family was his greatest blessing by emphasizing loyalty, shared memories and stories and belonging. His goodness and kindness will continue to live on through his family. He will be profoundly missed, but he is now at peace with his beloved Alice in the Lord's arms in heaven. Rest in peace, Dad.
