In Loving Memory of Margaret Graham (née Breuer)

December 11, 1949 – October 4, 2026

It is with profound sadness and deep love that we announce the passing of Margaret Graham, who passed away peacefully on October 4, 2026, at the age of 76 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. In her final moments, she was comforted by the presence of her devoted son and caretaker Peter, who was by her side.

Born on December 11, 1949, in the Bronx to Helen (née Wrobleski) Breuer and Frank Breuer, she grew up in Elmont and later made Rockland County, NY her home. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Frank Breuer.

Her life's calling was teaching, which brought her to the South Orangetown Central School District, where for more than twenty years she taught kindergarten and first grade. Teaching was much more than a career to her; it was her passion. She dedicated herself to helping children begin their educational journey and always lit up when she received updates about the accomplishments of her former students. The countless young lives she touched remain an enduring part of her legacy.

Those who knew her will remember her joyous laugh and her legendary dimples that appeared whenever she smiled. Her genuine happiness and infectious laughter drew people to her. She never took life too seriously, always looking for the fun to be had and making the best of every situation. She considered her friends family and built a life rich with love, laughter, and cherished memories alongside those she loved dearly.

Margaret was always up to trying something new, as shown by her enjoyment of yoga, walking, line-dancing and whatever activity a friend might have invited her to.

Above all else, she treasured her family. She was a loving mother and a proud grandmother whose greatest joy came from watching her family grow and thrive. She is survived by her children, Courtney Graham and her husband, Jose Hernandez; Michael Graham and his wife, Janine Gebbia; and Peter Graham. She was the proud grandmother of Peter Japhet and Thomas Breuer Gebbia-Graham. Becoming a grandmother was one of the most fulfilling experiences of her life, and her grandsons brought her immeasurable joy and pride.

Alzheimer's disease gradually took many things from her, but it never diminished the love she gave to others or the love that surrounded her throughout her life. Her family will forever remember her gentle heart, her strength, her sense of humor, her radiant smile, and the unconditional love she shared so freely.

Though we mourn her absence, we celebrate the remarkable life she lived and the countless people she influenced as a mother, grandmother, sister, teacher, and friend. Through her example, she taught us kindness, patience, resilience, joy and the importance of loving one another well.

Her memory will remain forever in our hearts, and her love will continue to guide us.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church in Tappan, NY with a funeral Mass to follow at 10:00 a.m.
