Martin Semar, a devoted husband, father, uncle, great-uncle, friend, and mentor, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2025, at the age of 88. Born in Brooklyn on July 1, 1936, Martin lived a life defined by love, service, and advocacy.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Antonia, and his son, Bram, who resides at Spectrum for Living. Martin was a passionate advocate for individuals with disabilities, dedicating much of his time and energy to ensuring they received the care, respect, and opportunities they deserved. His work with Spectrum for Living was a reflection of his deep commitment to this cause, inspired by his love for his son and his unwavering belief in the dignity of all people.
Beyond his advocacy, Martin was a guiding presence to many. As a mentor and friend, he shared his wisdom, kindness, and steady support with all who knew him. His family, including his many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, treasured his warmth and generosity.
Martin's legacy is one of compassion, dedication, and love. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered by those whose lives he touched.
