IN LOVING MEMORY OF

In Loving Memory of Matthew Piccione
It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Matthew Piccione, beloved husband, father, son, uncle, friend and coach, who left us far too soon on September 1, 2025 at the age of 51 in Nyack, New York. He was born March 27, 1974 in Staten Island, New York to Arlene and John (predeceased) Piccione. He is survived by his brother, John James and Beth, his sister, Natalie and Robert, his in-laws, Harry and Florence Nespoli, Tara and Michael, Todd and Elysia, and his beloved nieces and nephews, Matthew, Kaitlyn, Justin, Anthony, Ashley, Lauren, Michael and Donovan.
Matt graduated from Monsignor Farrell High School where he made an impact both on and off the basketball court. He was a dedicated and valued desk head and commodities broker at TP ICAP for 17 years. Above all else, Matt was a devoted and loving husband and father. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Lynn and his children Julia and Jack. Lynn was the love of Matt's life. They were each other's best friends. Matt's favorite times were spent laughing with family and friends. Matt's personality and sense of humor lit up the room. He made everyone smile and would do anything to help someone that needed it.
Matt's true love in life was his family. He adored his children Julia and Jack and his wife Lynn, always putting them first and creating a home filled with love and laughter. Whether it was on the sidelines, at the dinner table, or during quiet family moments, his life belonged to them completely. Matt was an avid basketball player, fan and coach. There was never a game he missed. He was blessed to have coached both of his children during their years of CYO at St. Catharine's Church in Blauvelt, New York. Matt also coached within the Rockland Spartans Basketball program in Orangeburg, New York. He had a special connection with his players that spread beyond practice and game time. While at home, Matt enjoyed time by the pool, cheering on Tappan Zee High School Basketball, as well as the Knicks, Yankees, Jets and playing with his best buddy Champ.
Matt was most proud of Julia and Jack for the young adults they are today. Matt passed on not only his passion for basketball but his sense of humor, his loyalty, integrity and strong work ethic.
A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, September 5th, from 3:00pm-8:00pm at Moritz Funeral Home in Tappan, NY. The Funeral Mass will be Saturday, September 6th, at St. Catharine's Church in Blauvelt, NY at 10:00am. In honor of Matt's life, the family asks that you share your favorite memories and stories—because if there's one thing he would have wanted, it's for everyone to remember the laughter.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be considered in Matt's memory toward scholarships for two senior basketball players from Tappan Zee High School. Details on how to contribute will be shared at a later date.
