IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mildred Antonia
Petrinic
June 13, 1933 – September 14, 2025
Mildred Antonia Petrinic, 92, of Jackson, NJ, and long time resident of Alpine, NJ, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2025.
Mildred was born on June 13, 1933 in Long Island City, New York. She was one three children of the late Peter and Margaret Juresic. At the age of four the family relocated to the Adriatic island of Krk in Croatia where they owned and operated the Hotel Malinska. In addition to assisting her parents with the management of the hotel, Mildred was a skilled seamstress and could speak fluently in Croatian, Italian and English. Unfortunately, the post World War II government nationalized privately owned industry and seized their hotel. At the age of twenty she met her future husband, Joakin (John), in Rijeka, Croatia, with whom she would share thirty five years of marriage until his passing. They both immigrated to America in 1954, having to escape what was then communist Yugoslavia. They settled in Bronx, New York where they eventually raised three boys. From humble beginnings with hard work and sheer determination the couple achieved success and was able to move the family to the suburbs in Alpine, NJ. Mildred lived in Alpine for over forty years where she enjoyed cooking, gardening and attending mass. She learned to drive at the age of fifty seven, an admirable achievement, subsequent to her husband's passing.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mildred was predeceased by her brother, Peter Juresic Jr., brother in law, Michael Laskowski, her nieces, Jaclyn Laskowski and Adrienne Rivera. She is survived by her sister, Georgette Laskowski of Rock Hill, NY, her son and daughter in law, Andrew and Debra Petrinic of Spring Lake, NJ, son Jimmy Petrinic of Closter, NJ, son Dennis Petrinic of Port St. Lucie, Fl., grandson Christopher Petrinic of Englewood Cliffs, NJ and granddaughter Bambi Cathleen Petrinic MD of Juno Beach, Fl..
