IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Modestina Arancio
Laduca
March 31, 1937 – October 5, 2024
Modestina Arancio LaDuca, 87, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on Saturday, October 5th, 2024. Born and raised in the Bronx, NY. Tina then lived most of her life in Orangeburg, NY. She was predeceased by her husband John, son James and sister, Marie O'Grady. Tina is survived by her loving son, John Peter, brother John Arancio and wife, Carol, granddaughters, Katie and Ali, and dog, Rosie.
Tina worked in medical records for many years at the Rockland Children Psychiatric Center. She was a beautiful and sharp, passionate, resilient woman; she will always be remembered by her devoted love for animals, and the arts: writing, poetry and music.
We share the below poem in her honor, comparing the lingering effect of love to the way music stays in your memory after it fades, or how a scent of violets persists even after the flower wilts. Tina will be forever imprinted in our hearts.
Music
Percy Bysshe Shelley
Music, when soft voices die,
Vibrates in the memory—
Odours, when sweet violets sicken,
Live within the sense they quicken.
Rose leaves, when the rose is dead,
Are heaped for the beloved's bed;
And so thy thoughts, when thou art gone,
Love itself shall slumber on.
With all of our love,
John Peter, Katie and Ali
