Obituary

With a heavy heart, The Reilly Family announces the passing of our family matriarch, Mary "Moira"  (nee McHugh) Reilly of Blauvelt, NY.  Moira was born on March 12, 1940 and passed on March 11, 2023, one day shy of her 83rd birthday.  Moira is survived by her husband, Matthias Reilly, her four daughters, Carmel (John), Erin (Donald), Fiona (Martin) and Shauna (Jimmy) and her nine grandchildren, Joe, Siobhán, Bridget, Caitlyn, Mary Rose, Helen, James, Dylan and Mossy.
She was predeceased by her parents Annie and Robbie McHugh, her daughter Kiera and her three brothers Tommy (Maura), Patrick (Bernie) and Tony (Lena) and her grandson, Matthew.
Moira was born in Derryvore, County Fermanagh, Ireland.  When she was just about nine years old she moved just south of the border to Loughdooley, Belturbet, County Cavan.
Moira emigrated to America along with the love of her life Matt Reilly on February 10, 1962.  They married on September 14, 1963 and moved to Blauvelt on a Good Friday the 13th of April, 1968.
While raising her four children, Moira was a child care giver to many of the teachers in the South Orangetown Central School District.  After many years, she began a career at Prudential Insurance in Orangeburg, NY and retired circa 2000.
Throughout her life, Moira was proud of her Irish heritage and equally proud to become an American Citizen in 1974.  She was a founding member of the Rockland County FEIS, Rockland Irish American Cultural Center in Blauvelt, NY, on the committee for the Rockland County Saint Patrick's Day Parade and an Aide to the Grand Marshall in 2017.  She was also a member of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, Division 3, Pearl River.
Moira loved traveling around the world and enjoyed being a snowbird in Boynton Beach, Florida.  She loved being surrounded by friends and family.  There was nothing better than catching up with Moira with a cuppa and some of her famous Irish Soda Bread.  She was also known as having the best potato salad in town!
