On the morning of October 14, 2023, our beloved Ramona Montes of Sparkill, NY, peacefully passed away at the remarkable age of 104, surrounded by the warmth of her family in the comfort of her home. Ramona's life was a testament to enduring love, unwavering faith, and a commitment to family that knew no bounds.

Born on July 13, 1919, in the picturesque town of Fajardo, Puerto Rico, she was a beacon of light from the very beginning. In 1938, she embarked on a lifelong journey of love and companionship when she married the love of her life, Ramon Montes. Together, they carved a beautiful life in New York, having moved to the Bronx in 1946, where they became devoted members of their cherished church, John 3:16.

In 1976, they relocated to Rockland County, where Ramona continued to embrace her role as the matriarch of her family. Her love and dedication knew no bounds, and she was actively involved in raising her granddaughters and great-grandsons. She instilled in them values of kindness, respect, and the importance of family that will endure for generations to come.

Throughout her life, Ramona faced the profound loss of her husband, Ramon, in 1990, her daughters Manuela in 1941 and Tammy in 2023, her son-in-law Benjamin in 2012, her granddaughter Cynthia in 2018, and her nine siblings. Her resilience and strength were an inspiration to all who knew her.Ramona is survived by her daughter Carmen, granddaughters Irma and Lilly, seven great-grandsons and a great-great granddaughter who will carry on her legacy. Her love extended far and wide to include numerous nieces and nephews who will forever cherish the love and wisdom she imparted.

A viewing in her honor will take place at Moritz Funeral Home in Tappan, NY, on October 16th, where you are welcome to pay your respects from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. The funeral service, a celebration of her remarkable life, will be held at Moritz Funeral Home at 10am on Tuesday, October 17th. Following the service, we will lay our beloved Ramona to rest at Tappan Cemetery.

Ramona's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were touched by her kindness, her devotion, and her love. May she find eternal peace, reunited with those she loved, in the arms of the angels.
