Rena Ferri passed away peacefully on February 7th. Rena was 97 years old and only two months shy of her 98th birthday. She was born in Tenafly, NJ to Angioletta and Scolanti Corado and lived in Tenafly for her whole life only relocating to Arbor Terrace in Norwood, NJ, in 2022. She is survived by her daughter, Linda, of Cresskill, NJ, granddaughter, Lori, great-grandchildren, Rayn, Kai and Teal, and her son, John (Denise) of Tappan, NY, and her beloved grandson, John. Rena is also survived by her loving sister, Dolores, and an abundance of loving nieces, nephews and friends. Rena was predeceased by her beloved husband, Ernest "Ernie," her loving son-in-law, Jan, her parents, Angioletta and Scolanti Corado and her siblings, Mary, Larry, Tessie, Rose, Gloria "Cookie," Josephine "Poochie," and Betty and her sister-in-law, Tessie, and her brothers-in-law Mario, Phil and John. Rena and her husband, Ernie, had a wonderful marriage lasting 63 years. Sadly, Ernie passed away in 2008 and this was a very sad time for Rena. Rena was also employed as a waitress at the Tenafly Diner for many years and was liked and respected by all of her customers.
Rena was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She loved spending her time with her family, celebrating holidays, spending summers at the Jersey Shore, traveling with her husband, Ernie, including a trip of a lifetime to Italy and seeing the Sistine Chapel. She loved visiting her daughter and son-in-law in Arizona and she loved watching "Wheel of Fortune." In her younger days, she enjoyed going to see the Radio City Christmas Show with her daughter-in-law and grandson. She also enjoyed attending Sunday Mass with them.
She has been described as a second mother and a second grandmother by her nieces and nephews and also by her children's friends. Her home was always open to her family, friends and her children's friends and there was always room for one more at the dinner table.
She will be deeply missed.
