Richard Brian Daly, a longtime resident of Closter, NJ, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 4, 2023. Born to Edith and Edward Daly on November 3, 1950, Rich grew up in Florida, Illinois, and Fort Lee, NJ. While in Fort Lee, Rich met his wife of 47 years, Lynn Daly. They were married on January 23, 1976.  In addition to his wife, Rich is survived by his sister Leslie Thomas, his sons Jeff Daly and Brian Daly (Nancy), and his two grandchildren Matthew and Henry. He is predeceased by his parents Edith and Edward Daly and his sister Wendy.

Rich worked for many years as an auto mechanic and later as a forklift mechanic for Givaudan Roure in Clifton, NJ until 1998. He then switched careers and started a new job at Earth Color in March 2000 working as a network engineer in the printing business.Upon retiring from Earth Color in July 2009, Rich constantly worked and completed projects around the house, including renovating the kitchen and basement, and built a full outdoor shed and deck from scratch. He loved working and building things and was truly a handy guy. Lowe's and Home Depot were his favorite places to visit. That passion for building and fixing drove him to serve on the zoning board for the borough of Closter where he worked very hard to preserve the small-town appeal of the town. Rich really loved sports and was a big fan of the New York Giants and New York Yankees. He also coached and worked with his two sons through many years of sports, especially baseball. He also enjoyed playing sports and outdoor games with his grandsons in his later years. Rich truly loved dogs, and there was always a dog living in his house, even though he would always say he was not going to get any more dogs. Rich was always enthusiastic, outgoing, and the life of any party he attended. He was a great conversation starter and was always able to engage and entertain others. Rich was a longtime member of the Closter community and really cared about the town and its people. He was a great man whose presence made life a little better for everyone he met.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 8th at 10 AM at Moritz Funeral Home in Closter, NJ. A burial will be held at George Washington Cemetery in Paramus NJ at 11:30 AM.
