Obituary

Richard Iervolino of Suffern, 61, died peacefully on May 24th at his home.

Born in Brooklyn in 1962, he moved to Blauvelt as a child and graduated from Manhattan College in 1984 with a double major in business and computer science.

After retiring from the securities and shipping industries, he became a professional driver, currently working for Leros Point to Point in Valhalla. He was highly regarded by the company for his conscientiousness, and he was often specifically requested by many customers, who loved his sense of humor and his thoughtfulness.

Rich never knew a stranger; he was a big guy with a big heart. He emanated goodness and made people around him happy. He always had a joke or a story to tell. Rich adored dogs of any shape and size, and always kept dog biscuits in his car.

Rich was an avid fan of baseball and a collector of baseball memorabilia. He and his brother Tom and his late brother-in-law Bill used to go to different baseball stadiums, and Rich soon became friends with everyone seated around them.

He loved the outdoors: he enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing. After decades of family camping in the Catskills and Adirondacks, he spent as much time as possible at his property in Masonville, NY. He was preparing to build his retirement home there.

He was a huge fan of music of all genres from Bill Evans to Allman Brothers and the Grateful Dead – he went to over 50 Dead and tribute concerts – and he was a collector of vintage American and English TV comedies.

He is survived by his sister, Susan Bellion of Ridgefield, CT; and his brother and sister-in-law, Thomas Iervolino and Lisa Iervolino of Chadds Ford, PA.

A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, May 31st, 10am, at St. Catharine's Church, 523 Western Highway, Blauvelt, NY 10913. Visiting hours will be Tuesday, May 30th, 4-7pm at the Moritz Funeral Home in Tappan, NY 10983.
