IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard Gerard
Vitalo
March 2, 1950 – November 3, 2025
Richard Gerard Vitalo, 75, of Closter, NJ, passed away on November 3rd , 2025.
Richard was a Brooklynite, a title he wore like a badge of honor, even when he was quick to poke fun at his own roots.
A steamfitter by trade, Richard took immense pride in his work. But the true foundation of his career (and his life) was people. Richard had a rare, effortless gift: he could walk into any room and leave knowing everyone's life story. His humor and genuine curiosity made sure that no one was a stranger; they were new friends he hadn't joked with yet.
His greatest pleasure was the simple ritual of visiting his favorite local shops to pick up a special treat for a loved one, and to trade stories and laughs with the people who ran them. He loved nothing more than the act of giving and providing.
He is survived by his dearest wife, Lorraine; his devoted sons, Daniel and Michael; his sister, Gini; and his brother, Robert. Richard was preceded in passing by his mother Catherine, his father Vincent, and his beloved brother Vincent.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to The Guild for Exceptional Children in Brooklyn, NY.
