Robert Emmett Daly (Bob), beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed away on March 8, 2023. Bob was a loving and kind person who enjoyed being with his family.
Bob was born to Emmett and Mary (nee Franek) on June 1,1940 in New York, NY and raised with his three siblings in the Bronx, NY. He attended William Howard Taft High School Bronx, NY. In 1958 he joined the United States Marine Corp Reserve and proudly served his country.
In October of 1962, Bob began his dream career as an NYPD Police Officer. After being assigned to serve and protect many of the Bronx communities, he ultimately ended his 22 year career while being assigned to the Firearms Tactics Section at Rodman's Neck. After retiring from the NYPD, Bob began a second career with the Facilities Department at Lamont Doherty Earth Observatory of Columbia University Palisades, NY.
On May 2,1964, Bob married the love of his life Lynn (nee Hubner) Daly and resided in Bronx, NY. In 1972, Bob and Lynn relocated their growing family to Sparkill, NY where they then raised their three children. As Bob began to enjoy his retired life, he and Lynn moved to Lake Ariel, PA.
After moving into the Sparkill community, it was not long until Bob joined the John Paulding Engine Company Sparkill/Palisades Fire Department as a volunteer. It is there he and Lynn made lifelong friendships. Bob proudly rose through the ranks to become Assistant Chief. One of the many hats that he wore while volunteering at the firehouse was that of Commissioner. Bob thoroughly enjoyed this position as it allowed him to not only secure the safety of the volunteer firefighters but for the community at large.
Bob is predeceased by his parents Emmett and Mary Daly. He is survived by his loving wife Lynn, Lake Ariel PA; Sons Robert (Erin) Daly Sparkill, NY, Michael (Joan) Daly Lakeville, PA, daughter Christine (John) Daly Carney North Carolina; Grandchildren Jennifer (John) Conjura, Robert B. Daly, Jennifer (Richard) Roper, Michael Roper, Julianne Daly, Bryan Daly, Ryan (Jenna) Carney, Matthew Carney; Great Grandchildren Thomas Roper, Madison Conjura, Chase Conjura; Brothers Kenneth (Carolyn) Daly, Pompano Beach, Fl. Richard (Dawn) Daly, Hyde Park, N.Y. and his sister Patricia Daly, New Rochelle, NY.
Bob will be sorely missed by so many. His personal touches, suggestions and experiences will never be forgotten.
