Formerly of Closter, NJ and Las Vegas, NV
Devoted husband of Sylvia (nee Nolan) for 64 years. Loving father of Joseph (Ginny), Robert Jr, Stephen (Susan), Christopher, Wayne (Michele Canning) and Warren. Loving brother of Judith Talmo. Adored grandfather of Kristen Lucia (Cory), Elizabeth Talmo (Albert Brown), Katharine Talmo, Jessica Figueroa (Nicholas), Joseph Talmo, Nicole Paolantonio (Daniel), Mathew Talmo (Jessica), Samantha Talmo, Morgan Talmo, Christina Talmo, Alyssa Talmo and Jennifer Talmo. Great grandfather of Mathew Daniel Talmo, Mila Rose Talmo, Lucas Anthony Talmo and Nova Rey Figueroa.
He was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Christine (nee Giannantonio) Talmo, daughter-in-law Hollie (nee Harmke) Talmo and grandson Robert Carl Talmo III.
Bob grew up in Ridgefield, NJ. He graduated high school from St. Cecilia's in Englewood, NJ. He spent some time in Germany in the U. S. Army, then he came home and married his sweetheart, Sylvia in 1959. They raised their six sons in Closter, NJ where he was active in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. Bob also coached baseball for many years.
He was an avid Yankee fan and despite having both vision and hearing problems, he always seemed to know what happened in last night's game.
Robert retired as a Detective Sergeant with the Closter Police Department after receiving a serious injury on the job. He was dedicated to the youth of Closter. After retiring, he was involved in several business endeavors in town. At that time, he was an active member of the Closter Chamber of Commerce.
Bob and Sylvia moved to Las Vegas in 1993 and enjoyed their retirement playing golf, traveling a bit and visiting the casinos for a bite to eat and a little video poker. They enjoyed having visitors and showing them around town.
Visitation will be at the Moritz Funeral Home, 348 Closter Dock Rd., Closter, NJ on Thursday, June 1st from 4-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Closter Volunteer Ambulance Corp, 72 Ruckman Rd, Closter, NJ 07624
