IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert 'Bob'
Wayne Morris
January 22, 1940 – September 28, 2025
Robert (Bob) Wayne Morris, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2025.
Born in the Bronx, NY on January 22, 1940 to Harold Morris and Mary Virginia Morris (Kenney), Bob attended Samuel Gompers High School and spent many afternoons canoeing near Orchard Beach with his cousins. His interest in military history and his patriotism inspired Bob to enlist in the United States Army when he was seventeen years old.
He proudly served in the United States Army for six years and met the love of his life, Ruth shortly after he was stationed in Germany. Bob and Ruth enjoyed 53 wonderful years of marriage together. They were never apart for more than Bob's eight hour shifts (8-4, 4-12 or 12-8) during his career as a police officer. During his tenure at the OPD, he was often called "Abe" (short for Honest Abe, a nickname associated with Abraham Lincoln due to his personal integrity and honesty). After 31 years of distinguished service Bob retired from the Orangetown Police Department on February 4 , 2001.
Bob is survived by his daughter, Britta Green (Christopher), grandson, Timothy Rothschild, great-granddaughter Alma Rothschild and brother James Morris as well as his nieces and nephews, Brenda Holohan, Joan Grosser, James Morris and Jason Morris.
He is predeceased by his devoted wife Ruth (Grosser) Morris, grandson, Robert Rothschild , sister Denice Thurmes and brother-in-law Werner Grosser.
