Sandra Palazzolo Long

Sandra Ann Palazzolo Long passed away peacefully at Joe Raso Hospice on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at the age of 82. She was the beloved wife of 56 years to William Albert Long, Jr., who predeceased her in 2018. Loving mother of Dana Andrews (Kevin), Lisa Murray (Daniel), William Long III (Kathy), the late Patrick Long (Karyn) who welcomed her into heaven, Jeffrey Long (Kristina), and Cristen Causey (Thomas). Treasured daughter of the late Viola Cash Palazzolo and Raymond Palazzolo. Cherished sister of Dianne Barth, Raymond Palazzolo Jr. (Doris), and Debbie Schenck (Merlin). Dearest sister-in-law to James Long. Adoring aunt to many nieces and nephews.

She is also survived by eighteen grandchildren: Kevin Andrews Jr., Shannon Ballesteros (Robert), and Erin Hernandez (Xavier); Daniel (Anna), Ryan, Patrick (Katlyn), and Timothy Murray; Tyler, Matthew, William IV, and Christopher Long; Lindsey Benefiel (Corey) and Michael Long (Nicole); Caitlin, Jeffrey Jr., and Brian Long; and Blaine and Dylan Causey; as well as six great-grandchildren: Elizabeth and Wilhelmina; Graham and Carter; and Caleb and Cecilia.

Sandra was born in Charleston, South Carolina, but lived most of her life in New Orleans, Louisiana. While raising her young family and volunteering as a Girl Scout Leader, she was also a professional powerhouse who worked full-time throughout her adulthood. She was one of the top sales managers in the nation for Tupperware home parties, and that incredible success brought her and her family to New York, where she and her husband owned and managed a Tupperware distributorship. She also served as the Regional Sales Director for Forever Living Products, which she successfully ran for over twenty-five years. Upon retirement, Sandra moved to Covington, Louisiana, and was so happy to be close to her family in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama.

Eventually returning to New York in 2021, she cherished her final years at Dowling Gardens in Sparkill, where she made wonderful friends and especially relished the monthly Sparkill Senior Citizen Club trips. She was a passionate and politically minded woman who took great pride in voting in every election until the very end. She was a fierce advocate for women’s leadership and deeply admired strong, independent women who made a difference in the world.

Her sense of humor was completely unmatched; she often had those around her laughing to tears, and she’d be crying laughing right along with them. She was the unrivaled queen of Jeopardy, and she was always ready for a sweet treat, especially a slice of doberge cake. Her family was the greatest joy of her life, and she will be missed dearly by all who loved her.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 17, 2026, at Moritz Funeral Home, 98 Route 303, Tappan, NY, with a Catholic service commencing at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sandra’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital online at stjude.org/donate or by mail to 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
