Tappan, NY - Tappan Location

On Sunday, April 24- on Divine Mercy Sunday, devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt and dear friend -Sara Thalappillil joined her Heavenly Father. She was the 6th child of Ouseph and Elizabeth Melethe and grew up in Vembilly, Kerala. Shortly after finishing her nursing education at Nagpur Medical College, she immigrated to the United States in November 1971 where she worked as a nurse in New York City. She later went on to receive her bachelor of science in nursing from Saint Francis College in Brooklyn, NY. She worked at both Metropolitan Hospital and Cabrini Medical Center before moving to Tappan, NY with her husband and children in 1985. She ended her career at Rockland Psychiatric Hospital retiring in October 2013. Sara had an enduring faith in Christ, from an early age. She was a devoted parish member to both Our Lady of Sacred Heart and the Holy Family Syro Malabar Church. She attended and organized prayer groups, meetings and retreats for more than twenty years.

Sara is survived by her husband Abraham, her children Jason and his wife Sujatha, her grandchildren Amir and Kiran, her daughter Jenny, who is expecting, her husband Daniel, along with her youngest daughter Jancy. Sara leaves behind her sister Anna in India, as well as her brothers Mathew and George, in addition to several nephews and nieces residing in New York, England and India.She believed in the strength and love of family, she found great joy when surrounded by those she loved dearly. Sara loved all of God's creations - beautiful flowers and animals. She was devoted to her rosary prayer life, encouraging others to seek blessings and grace from Mother Mary and healing from Adoration. She believed in charity for all and that blessings will be received in life when we stay committed to the love of Jesus.
