Susann Flora (Goff) Fusco, 59, of Norwood, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2026, surrounded by her loving family, after facing her illness with incredible courage and determination.

Born on November 20, 1966, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Susann grew up in Mobile, Alabama. It was there, while attending Spring Hill College, that she met the love of her life and soulmate, Philip, in 1985. The two married on May 26, 1990, and built a life and family together that meant the world to her.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Philip; her children, Philip III and his wife Lara, Jacqueline, and Anthony; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Philip and Dolores Fusco; her brother-in-law Christopher Fusco and his wife Stephanie; her sister-in-law Angelique Fusco and her partner Ron Schaum; her nephew, Christian “CJ” Fusco; and her niece, Teresa Schaum Persad and her husband Javier Persad, along with extended family and countless friends whose lives were made better simply by knowing her.

Susann was predeceased by her mother, Flora Goff, and her brothers, Robert “Bubba” Goff and William “Billy” Goff.

Above all else, Susann was devoted to her family. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, teacher and friend. She was an incredibly proud mother and never missed an opportunity to boast about her children to anyone who would listen. Their accomplishments were her accomplishments, their happiness was her happiness, and being their mother was one of the greatest joys of her life.

Since 2011, Susann was a beloved Vice Principal and teacher at The Spring School in Tenafly, New Jersey. She taught K–3 Cultural Studies, including history, science, art and music, and ran several after-school enrichment programs. Her chess and science clubs were among the school’s most sought-after, a testament to the enthusiasm she brought to learning and the care she showed her students as if they were her own.

She also enjoyed singing and being surrounded by family and friends. She had a way of making people feel welcomed and cared for, and she was loved by nearly everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Susann was also an avid Bergen Catholic football fan and a familiar face on game day, where she ran the 1st and 10 booth. For the past ten years, every Wednesday during football season, she made pasta for the football boys — just another example of the way Susann showed her love by taking care of the people around her.

Susann fought incredibly hard and faced her illness with extraordinary bravery and determination.

Her family will forever be grateful for the milestones she was able to celebrate with them, including watching her son get married and sharing a dance with him at his wedding, as well as being there to celebrate the marriage of her niece Teresa to Javier. Those moments, and so many others, will be treasured forever.

Susann’s absence leaves an immeasurable space in the lives of those who loved her, but the life she built, the children she raised, the students she taught, the friendships she made and the love she gave so freely will remain her legacy.
