Obituary

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Thomas Grady on February 8, 2025. He was born in Hackensack and grew up in Dumont. He is survived by his wife, Karen and his children Judy (Brian) Powers, Maureen Grady, TJ (Misti) Grady, grandchildren Brian Powers, Caitlin (Bill) Dunker, Madilyn, Garrett, & Tanner Grady. Karen's children Megan Tufford, Eddie (Nora) Tufford, grandchildren Mauricio, Reece, & Dean Tufford. He is also survived by his brother James (AnnMarie). Predeceased by Maureen's fiancé John Shanley, his brothers Michael and Patrick, sister Anne.

Tom was a letter carrier and then safety office and postal inspector for the USPS. He was an active member of the Haworth Fire Department for over 60 years. His favorite thing to do was to play Santa on the firetruck every Christmas. He was a member of the Haworth Ambulance Corp and taught First Aid and CPR. He was also a member of the Closter Elks and enjoyed helping those in need.

We all have our first heroes and he was certainly ours. If anyone epitomized being a committed civil servant, who dedicated putting others before himself, it was Tom Grady. Suaimhneas Siorai Air. Slainte.

Donation in Tom's honor maybe made to Haworth Fire Department: 71 Hardenburgh Ave. Haworth, NJ 07641.
